Bea and her younger sister Sinead were nurtured by their mother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher, jockey trainer, and an ex-professional jockey. The family was fascinated by horses and race meetings. Bea started out her career as a tour guide at the Irish National Stud. However, she realized early on that the racing industry wasn't for her.
